Costing

A cost apportionment system can be used to spread expense type costs across different cost centres. Payables and Receivables can function in multi currency mode, with ageing reports and journal detail listings available from both sub modules. A “Real Time Ledger” facility is available, based on the concept of a ledger transaction session, in which transaction relating to the ledger concerned are processed online, whilst derived transactions and audit reports are produced in batch mode on closing the session.

The cost is made up of its calculated component and assembly costs (both of which can be overridden by manually entering them) and manually entered additional costs. The cost of a part is broken down into different Cost Elements, each of which relate to a Cost Head for more manageable sub-totalling. To cater for multiple Cost Standards, the systemallows a number of Cost Standards for each part. These are called Cost Sets. An unnecessarily large number of Cost Sets markedly increases the size of the database so, although CST allows up to 999 Cost Sets, as few as possible should be used, if disk space is at a premium. Equally, a large number of Cost Elements causes a reduction in theperformance of CST, so again, although CST allows up to 999 Cost Elements, the fewer that are used, the better the performance will be.
